As a global brand and leading manufacturer of natural personal care products, Burt's Bees sources materials and ingredients from around the world. Inspired by nature—our most vital supply chain partner—we respect the communities, individuals, and environment from which we source our ingredients. We call this Responsible Sourcing, and it's a key part of our sustainability strategy.
As part of this journey, we're in the process of conducting site visits for key product ingredients to thoroughly evaluate the social and environmental impact of our sourcing. Since we use hundreds of natural ingredients in our products, vetting each one is no small task. But we're on our way.
Since our founding and as our business has grown, we've maintained a number of checks and balances to which suppliers must conform in order to do business with us. We are continually working to strengthen and redefine our strategic supplier relationships and engage partners in ongoing dialogue. We utilize supplier self-assessments, third-party certifications, site visits, audits, and a Supplier Code of Conduct. We are also active members of AIM-Progress.
Supplier Code of Conduct Principles:
- Protect the human rights of all workers and treat them with dignity.
- Create safe working conditions and a healthy work environment for all workers.
- Safeguard the environment and reduce the environmental impact of operations.
- Establish high standards of ethical conduct and comply with fair business practices and applicable laws.
